DoWear Care & Washing Guide
Keep prints sharp, colours rich and fabrics comfy. Here’s your complete DoWear care playbook.
In this guide:
1) Fabric 101: what your DoWear piece is made of
Cotton (jersey & fleece) Most hoodies/tees
Breathable, comfy, naturally soft. Can shrink if washed hot or tumble dried on high.
Care: 30 °C, gentle spin, wash inside-out. Air-dry or tumble low.
Poly-cotton blends
Holds shape, resists creasing and helps prints last. Less prone to shrinkage.
Care: 30 °C, normal spin. Air-dry for best print longevity.
GSM & weight
Light (≤180 GSM): airy tees. Mid (200–300 GSM): everyday sweats. Heavy (≥320 GSM): cosy hoodies.
Heavier fabrics need longer air-dry time; avoid hot cycles.
2) Before you wash
- Turn inside-out to protect the print surface.
- Zip up & tie cords (hoodies/jackets).
- Sort colours: darks with darks; brights with brights.
- Use a mesh bag for small items (tote bags, accessories).
- Spot-treat marks before the main wash (see stain table below).
3) Best wash settings
- Temp: 30 °C (cold-to-warm). Avoid hot cycles to keep prints crisp.
- Cycle: Gentle or regular; avoid heavy-duty/aggressive spin.
- Detergent: Liquid, non-bio is ideal. No bleach. No fabric softener on printed areas.
- Load: Don’t overfill — clothing needs room to rinse.
4) Drying & ironing
- Best: Air-dry flat or on a hanger, away from direct heat/sun.
- Tumble: If needed, low heat only.
- Ironing: Inside-out on low/medium. Never iron directly on the print.
- Steam: Light steam inside-out to relax creases; avoid saturating the print.
5) Quick stain-rescue table
Stain | First aid | Then |
---|---|---|
Coffee / Tea | Rinse from the back with cool water ASAP. | Dab mild liquid detergent; wash at 30 °C. Avoid heat until fully gone. |
Oil / Grease | Sprinkle baking soda or corn-starch 10–15 min to lift oil; brush off. | Pre-treat with dish soap; gentle cycle 30 °C. |
Makeup | Blot (don’t rub). Use micellar water on a cloth (test seam first). | Follow with mild detergent wash. |
Deodorant marks | Rub gently with a clean, dry towel or baby wipe. | Wash cool; avoid bleach on darks. |
Grass | Pre-treat with enzyme detergent. | Wash 30 °C; repeat before drying if stain remains. |
Ink (ball-point) | Place paper towel under stain. Dab alcohol-based hand gel (test first). | Rinse, then wash cool. Do not tumble until removed. |
Always spot-test on an inside seam. Avoid aggressive scrubbing on printed areas.
6) Pilling, lint & storage
- Pilling: Normal for soft knits. Use a fabric shaver gently.
- Lint: Wash similar fabrics together. A quick lint-roller pass restores finish.
- Storage: Fold knits; hang outerwear. Keep away from direct sun/radiators.
7) Do/Don’t checklist
Do
- Wash inside-out at 30 °C.
- Use mild liquid detergent.
- Air-dry whenever possible.
- Spot-treat stains promptly.
Don’t
- Use bleach or harsh softeners.
- Iron directly on prints.
- Over-dry on high heat.
- Overfill the machine.
8) Troubleshooting FAQ
My hoodie shrank slightly.
Likely too-hot wash or tumble. Re-wash cold, reshape while damp and air-dry flat.
Crackling on a large print — what now?
Wash inside-out, cool cycle; iron inside-out on low with a clean cloth barrier to relax the ink layer. Avoid high heat going forward.
