Fit & Fabric 101: Find Your Best Hoodie & Tee (GSM, fits, care)
Last updated: 05/09/2025
Choosing the right hoodie or tee is easier when you understand two things: fit and fabric weight (GSM). This guide breaks down the common fit types, how fabric weight changes the feel, and how to care for pieces so prints stay sharp longer.
1) Hoodie fit guide: classic vs relaxed vs oversized
Fit changes silhouette and vibe. Here’s a quick visual to help you choose the right one for your style.
Classic Fit
Straight silhouette with a clean shoulder line. Everyday-friendly and easy to layer.
Take your usual size.
Relaxed Fit
Slightly roomier body & sleeves for comfort. Great over tees and light knits.
Usual size for ease; size down for a tidier look.
Oversized Fit
Dropped shoulders with extra volume for a bold, street-forward shape.
Usual size for statement; size down if between sizes.
Classic fit
- Straight silhouette, true-to-size shoulders.
- Office-casual friendly; clean lines.
- Sizing: take your usual size.
Relaxed fit
- Roomier body & sleeves for comfort.
- Great for layering over tees and light knits.
- Sizing: usual size for ease; size down if between sizes.
Oversized fit
- Dropped shoulders, extra length & volume.
- Street-forward silhouette—pairs well with bold graphics.
- Sizing: usual for dramatic look; size down for less volume.
2) Fabric weight (GSM) — what it means
GSM = grams per square meter. Higher GSM generally means a thicker, warmer fabric and a more structured hand-feel. Use this cheat sheet when picking tees, sweatshirts and hoodies:

T-Shirts
- 120–150 GSM: airy summer layers; very breathable.
- 160–185 GSM: all-season balance (our most popular range).
- 200+ GSM: premium hand, more structure, cooler days.
Hoodies & Sweatshirts
- 240–280 GSM: light/transitional layers; packable.
- 300–360 GSM: year-round comfort without bulk.
- 380–450 GSM: thick, warm, structured silhouettes.
3) Reading photos: length, shoulders, sleeve drop
- Length: the hem should meet mid-fly (hoodies) or sit at hip (tees) for everyday proportions.
- Shoulders: seams on the shoulder bone = classic; past the bone = relaxed/oversized.
- Sleeve drop: more drop = looser silhouette; balance with slimmer trousers.
4) Care to make prints last
- Wash inside-out on cool cycles; keep detergents mild.
- Air-dry or tumble low; avoid high heat to protect inks.
- Skip bleach and fabric softeners on printed areas.
- Spot-clean totes/hats; reshape while damp if needed.
